Collection of Your Personal Information
In the course of normal operations, Messagefire must collect personally identifiable information, such as your email address, name, home or work address or telephone number. None of the information collected by Messagefire is shared with any other site or service, under any conditions.
Messagefire does not collect sensitive data, such as your race, religion, or political affiliations, nor associate it with personally identifiable information. Messagefire takes precautions to segregate any sensitive data you may provide on the Messagefire site and service that reference your race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or political affiliations.
Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through electronic mail or other public online forums, this information may be collected and used by others. Messagefire employees do not read the body content of any of your private online communications. Messagefire employees may review the header fields of electronic mail sent through the Messagefire system, but only upon your direction (such as when you report that a message was miscategorized) and only to analyze and improve the operation of the Messagefire service.
There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by the Messagefire web site. This information will not be shared with other web sites, companies, services, or entities. This information can include your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, and referring web site addresses. This information is used by Messagefire for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Messagefire web site.
Use of Your Personal Information
The Messagefire web site collects and uses your personal information to operate the web site and deliver the services you have requested. The Messagefire site also uses your personally identifiable information to inform you of the operation of the services you have requested. Messagefire may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.
Messagefire does not sell, rent, or lease its customer lists to third parties. Messagefire will not contact you on behalf of external business partners about any product or service offerings. Messagefire may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Messagefire, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
Messagefire keeps track of the pages our customers visit within the Messagefire web site in order to determine what services are the most popular. This data is used to optimize those offerings and to develop and test new services that our customers may be interested in.
Messagefire retrieves electronic mail from servers you specify, sorts out unwanted email according to your account settings, and retains the result for your computer to retrieve. Until you retrieve your electronic mail from the Messagefire service and direct its deletion from the Messagefire server, your electronic mail is stored on the Messagefire server. Ordinary mail retrieved by your computer will normally be deleted from the Messagefire server immediately unless you specify otherwise. At your direction, unwanted ("spam") email may be retained for a specific period of time usually up to 30 days to allow you to review it and decide whether you want to read it.
Messagefire will disclose your personal information or the content of any stored electronic mail, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Messagefire or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Messagefire; or, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Messagefire, its web sites, or the public.
If Messagefire, or substantially all of
Messagefire's assets are acquired by a third party, personal information
will be one of the assets transferred as part of such acquisition.
Use of Cookies
The Messagefire web site uses "cookies" to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. A cookie tells the web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize Messagefire's pages or register with the Messagefire sites or services, a cookie helps Messagefire to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, and shipping addresses. When you return to the Messagefire web site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved so you can easily use the features that you customized.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Messagefire services or web sites you visit.
Use of Web Beacons
Messagefire Web pages may contain electronic images known as Web beacons, sometimes called single-pixel GIFs, that allow us to count users who have visited those pages and to deliver co-branded services. We may include web beacons in promotional email messages or newsletters in order to count how many messages have been opened and acted upon. Web beacons are not used to access your personally identifiable information on the Messagefire site and services; they are a technique we use to compile aggregated statistics about web site usage.
Web beacons collect only a limited set of information, including a cookie number, time and date of a page view, and a description of the page on which the web beacon resides.
Use of Third-Party Ad Networks
Messagefire does not provide advertising space to anyone, nor do we use third-party ad networks.
Control Your Personal Information
Messagefire does not send unsolicited marketing material from Messagefire web sites and services nor unsolicited marketing material on behalf of external third-party business partners. There are some Messagefire services, including the Messagefire mail filtering service, that send out periodic emails informing you of technical service issues, product surveys, new feature announcements, and news about Messagefire products and services. These emails are considered essential to the provision of the service you have requested. You will not be able to choose to unsubscribe to these mailings, as they are considered a part of the service you have chosen. You will, however, be allowed to choose how frequently these messages are sent to you.
Discounts and Incentives
From time to time, Messagefire may offer incentives such as service extensions, service discounts, or other rewards to current customers in exchange for their help in identifying new prospects and inviting them to try Messagefire products and services. Usually, these incentives will be offered to current customers as a coupon code or discount code that they may voluntarily choose to send to their friends and family.
In such cases, Messagefire may show a current customer information on whether any of the prospective customers with whom they have shared the discount code have in fact tried Messagefire or signed up to receive service, and what rewards the current customer has earned as a result.
Current customers who make use of these incentives will be informed of their responsibility not to "spam" people they do not know with them. To protect our customers, email users in general, and the integrity of Messagefire, anyone who disregards that responsibility may be subject to penalties, including possible termination of their Messagefire service and such other penalties as the law may allow, at the sole discretion of Messagefire.
Security of Your Personal Information
Messagefire secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For complete information on the security precautions Messagefire takes to protect your data, please see the Messagefire Security Statement.
Changes to this Statement
Messagefire will occasionally update this Statement of Privacy to reflect company and customer feedback. When Messagefire posts changes to this Statement, we will notify you by email and provide a link to the updated Privacy Statement. If there are material changes to this Statement or in how Messagefire will use your personally identifiable information, we will prominently post such changes prior to implementing the change. We encourage you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how Messagefire is protecting your information.
